At St Catherine of Siena, we use the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework across our whole school to promote positive behaviour and help every student succeed – socially, emotionally and academically.
PBL at our school is evidence-based and data-driven, meaning we regularly monitor student behaviour and wellbeing to ensure we are meeting the needs of every learner. All students are explicitly taught our school-wide behaviour expectations, which are Respectful, Safe, Kind and Responsible.
Our approach is consistent and proactive, with staff using explicit teaching, positive reinforcement and whole school routines to help students make good choices. We offer tiered levels of support so that every student gets the help they need:
-
Tier 1: Whole-school teaching and support for all students
-
Tier 2: Targeted support for students who need a bit of extra help
-
Tier 3: Intensive, individualised support for a small number of students
Through PBL, we aim to build a strong sense of belonging, encourage positive relationships and create a learning environment where every child feels valued, supported and ready to learn.
